Miracles do happen

Former local, now Kadina lady, Mel King (nee Grigg) received a wonderful surprise before Christmas – she found out she was going to be a mum!

“It was a huge shock but also a huge miracle, and we are very excited,” Mel said.

In June 2004, Mel suffered a miscarriage, and in November that year, was diagnosed with breast cancer.

While she didn’t have chemotherapy, Mel underwent radiotherapy and went on breast cancer drug, Tamoxifen, for five years.

The specialists said not to worry about saving her eggs and to just keep trying for a baby, but nothing eventuated, so the couple had accepted they wouldn’t have any children.
