St Joseph’s School, Clare, had its best finish yet in 10 years competing in pedal prix, with its two boy teams finishing in the top 10 and its two girls teams finishing in the top five of the girls only division.
The school’s Flash Racing Team consisted four cars – Clare Sparkling, Clare Lightning, Clare Red and Clare White – with all year 7 students taking part in the Uni SA Australian HPV Super Series 6 Hour Endurance Event at Victoria Park Racecourse.
The boys teams Clare Sparkling (Flash Racing 3) finished seventh overall in category one, completing 125 laps of the 1.3 kilometre track and Clare White (Flash Racing 4) finishing ninth with 124 laps.
The girls teams – Lightning and Red – finished in 47th and 48th positions overall in category one, with 90 and 89 laps each, placing fourth and fifth of the all-girls teams.
There was excitement aplenty, with teams ripping around the track at lightning speed – Sparkling reaching an average speed of 37km/h and a top lap time of 2:11.
