The school community library was recently given a colourful quilt (pictured), made by the talented members of the Riverton Quilters group.
After seeing a painting at the Saddleworth library, the Riverton library committee thought it would like something similar for its library.
A suggestion was then put to the quilters, who were keen to help.
The 10 quilters each machined a block or two, and once done, Dianne Fraser quilted them altogether with her long-armed quilter.
The ladies made the blocks from scrap materials in their ‘stash’, and the whole project took about three months from go to whoa.
Two weeks ago, the large quilt was hung from the ceiling above the DVD shelves, and it looks great, so drop in and have a look!
If you are interested in quilting, the group meets on the second Saturday of the month in the supper room at the town hall from 1.30pm to 5pm.
Everyone is welcome to go along, and if you have any fabric scraps, take them along too!
