The Cancer Council SA Mid North Relay For Life in Clare this weekend is all set to go with walkers ready to limber up, shoes all set out and a bit of fun and banter packed for good measure.
However, amongst the fun, it is also an emotional event, with many participants and volunteers getting involved to remember and support loved ones, and raising funds for the Cancer Council’s prevention, information and support services.
Already $36,564 has been raised for the Mid North event, with more donations welcome, and 29 teams and 325 registered participants are set to take part.
Participants from Balaklava, Jamestown, Burra, Spalding, Clare and beyond will take part in the event on the Clare oval.
A special Survivors and Carers lap, followed by a special afternoon tea, will be a highlight of the event. Participants can pre-register their interest or register on the day to take part.
A moving Light the Night Candle tribute is also planned.
A candle bag can be purchased, decorated and dedicated to someone, with participants lining the oval and lighting the candles.
Organisers are looking for contributions of video footage of survivors, fighters or loved ones being remembered for a special video presentation to run during the Light The Night ceremony.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have a contribution or want more details.
Also, pop along and buy some goodies from some of the trading tables that will be operating from 2pm-5pm on Saturday. Traders are still welcome to take part, tables are $20/site with proceeds to Relay for Life.
Phone Rachelle 0427 656 756 to book a spot.
