SOUTHERN Flinders footballer Tai Martin-Page has been flown to Royal Perth Hospital after suffering a spinal injury while playing in a Northern Territory Football League match on the weekend.
Martin-Page was recently recruited by NT Thunder Football Club.
In the opening minutes of the round 10 Men’s Premier League match between Wanderers and Darwin Buffaloes, Martin-Page ran onto a loose ball in full flight but was laid out by a Mitchell Taylor hip and shoulder.
He was taken from the ground and assessed at Royal Darwin Hospital before being taken to Perth.
Martin-Page posted on Facebook, “Yesterday afternoon I copped a knock to the head while playing footy, unfortunately resulting in a dislocated vertebra in my neck and damage to my spinal cord.”
“At this stage the extent of my injuries aren’t fully known but I’m getting the best care possible.
“Hoping to get out of hospital soon and start rehab.”
Our best wishes go to Tai for a successful and speedy recovery from this worrying situation.
