Concerned councillors curtail release of Adelaide Plains business plan

Adelaide Plains Council will not release its 2018/2019 draft Budget for public consultation this week, as councillors voted against its current form at Monday night’s general council meeting.

The vote came despite the recommendation of the Audit Committee to endorse the budget.

After four workshops to deliver the draft Budget and Annual Business Plan to the public, a number of councillors still held lingering cost concerns.

John Comrie, chairperson for the Audit Committee, addressed elected members on the proposed document, and said even though there were some concerns relating to the extent of the deficit, about $1.2 million, he did not see any reason why it should be held up at this time, indicating further amendments could still be made.
