Asbestos containing material (ACM) has been found at a further four sites within the Adelaide Plains Council area following the discovery of about 450 tonnes of ACM dumped at the Two Wells Transfer Station in October last year.
APC staff found hazardous material at Stony Point Reserve, Mallala Resource Recovery Centre, and two sites at Port Parham.
The discoveries were referred to licensed experts, Greencap Pty Ltd, the company which assisted council with the management of asbestos material found at Two Wells and the subsequent clean-up of the Carslake Quarry site.
The latest four sites were dealt with on Greencap’s advice and the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) were advised.
At Monday’s council meeting, Martin Waddington, APC general manager, Infrastructure, reiterated to councillors correspondence received from the EPA indicating they were satisfied with Greencap’s recommendations.
