Gilbert Valley Lions cleans up our 3 tonnes of mess
Two trailer loads of roadside rubbish, including 30 discarded tyres, were taken to the Clare Waste Transfer Station as a result of hard work by Gilbert Valley Lions volunteers.
The rubbish was picked up in the Riverton and Tarlee areas on Monday, November 5 and included the Barrier Highway on the northern approach to Riverton, around the cemetery, and all of Lookout Road, part of Garryowen Road, as well as Bruce Road and the Duck Pond.
Work also continued on the Barrier Highway south from Riverton to Horrocks Highway, with three vehicles and seven Gilbert Valley Lions Club members putting in 43 volunteer hours, to a total community value of $1075 (as per the Government volunteer rate).
